The Ampersand (&) Difference

  • ECON& (Common Course Numbering): In Washington, some courses have the same number across all community and technical colleges. These are 窶彡ommon courses.窶 If a course from a different college has the same number and subject as ツ鮓ケヤュエエ窶冱, and an ampersand (&), then they窶决e considered the same course. They are designed to transfer seamlessly between these schools. Examples at ツ鮓ケヤュエエ include ECON& 201 - Microeconomics and ECON& 202 - Macroeconomics.

  • ECON (ツ鮓ケヤュエエ-Specific): Courses without the ampersand are unique to ツ鮓ケヤュエエ College. While they still transfer to four-year universities (often under a Direct Transfer Agreement), they don't have a pre-matched course at every other community or technical college. Examples include ECON 110 - Global Economic Issues and ECON 120 - Economics of Entrepreneurship.
