Biologists engage in meeting the challenges of the future, helping to improve the quality of human life and preserving our world鈥檚 biodiversity. The biology courses at 麻豆原创 provide students with the breadth and depth of knowledge necessary to more fully understand the living world. Areas of study range from the microscopic world of cellular biology, to the complexities of a multicellular organism, to the networks of living things in ecosystems around the world.
While 麻豆原创 doesn't offer a specific degree in Biology, the Biology DTA/ MRP and Associate in Arts DTA will help you transfer to a 4-year program.
You have two degree options at 麻豆原创 College 鈥� the Associate in Biology DTA/ MRP and the Associate in Science Track 1. We can help you decide which degree is best for you, depending on your math and chemistry background.
- Do not have placement into college-level math (MATH& 141 Pre-Calculus or MATH& 151
Calculus I), or
- You are not ready to take CHEM& 161 General Chemistry with Lab I.
- Have placement into college-level math (MATH& 141 Pre-Calculus or MATH& 151 Calculus
I), and
- Are ready to begin CHEM& 161 General Chemistry with Lab I? If you completed high school chemistry with a "B" grade or higher, you are ready to start CHEM& 161.
Biology Degree Options
Associate in Biology DTA/MRP
- Program Length: Two years for full-time students. (Full-time is 12 credits or more)
- Costs per year: $4,914 tuition and fees
Career
A 4-year degree in biology opens the door to a wide range of careers. Biology grads
are in demand across fields such as biotechnology and pharmaceuticals, public health,
agriculture and food science, and environmental science and sustainability.
In addition, many students use a biology degree as a stepping stone to advanced careers,
including doctor, dentist, veterinarian, pharmacist, or research scientist.
Job titles for 4-year graduates can include:
- Marine Biologist
- Wildlife Biologist
- Plant or Environmental scientist
- Laboratory technician
- Research assistant
- Quality control analyst
- Forensic science (crime lab or genetic genealogy)
